Ohio Probation Violations

Ohio Criminal Defense Lawyer

Those convicted of a crime in Ohio and receive probation as a part of their punishment are allowed to remain in their community when they are finished with their jail sentence (although in some cases, there may be no jail sentence.) There are different types of probation. One type of probation is known as Summary Probation - also known as informal probation. With this type of probation, a defendant just needs to comply with any terms and not get into anymore legal trouble. There is also no need to report to a probation officer. With formal probation, however, the defendant must meet with a probation officer.

Have you or a loved one violated their parole or Ohio probation? It is important to consult with a lawyer. Contact Edward C. Weber - the Ohio Criminal Defense Lawyer - today.

Other aspects of probation include the following:

  • Drug Testing
  • Community Service
  • Counseling

A probation violation occurs when someone violates their probation in any way. When someone violates their probation, it may be revoked and that person may be sent to jail. Types of probation violations include failure to pay fines or restitution to the victim, failing to report to the probation officer, not staying away from a certain person or location as instructed, failing to appear in court, committing another crime and more.

Parole is the release of a prison inmate after all or part of their sentence was served. This allows the individual to live within their community but under supervision during the time of their parole. When someone violates their parole, they face the strong possibility of returning to jail.
