Internet crimes can range from selling counterfeit merchandise over the internet to identify theft to sexually explicit conversations with minors on chat rooms. They can be centered in the house next door or Egypt. Cyber crime has opened a completely new field of law. Regardless of the internet crime, everyone should be considered innocent until proven guilty, a notion that sometimes seems to get lost when prosecuting cyber crimes. Few social aeons have had the impact of the technological revolution. This new era has rewritten the law books, redefined the workforce, recreated communication, and redesigned industry. Along with the all the social reinvention, comes new opportunities and prospects as we learn and adapt to the new cyber-social order. This does not mean that our principles should get lost in the reshuffle.

The government has responded to this new cyber-universe by setting up different sub-agencies within existing law enforcement agencies to tackle the problem of cyber crime. The US Department of Justice (DOJ) has set up the Computer Crime & Intellectual Property Section (CCIPS) and has empowered them with implementing the DOJ's national and international strategies for combating internet and intellectual property crimes
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C), and the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) have collaborated to create the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3). The IC3 is responsible for collecting, developing, and referring complaints of internet crime and to alert authorities of suspected criminal or civil cyber violations. Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) is the local division of a federal initiative to crack down on internet child predators. The U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention funds the ICAC. If you have been accused of any cyber crime, you should have an experienced and skilled legal team on your side that understands how the law applies to internet crimes. You need qualified and capable representation.
